While it’s the male villains that usually hog the limelight, there are still plenty of well known females that give the bad guys a run for their money! Take household names like Harley Quinn and Catwoman for example. We have included these characters, among others in this list of easy super villain costumes for women. And if you’re willing to think outside the box, you can also get creative by gender-reversing popular male super villain characters, like The Joker, Magneto or Loki!
Harley Quinn is one of the hottest super villains of 2016, thanks to the hugely successful Suicide Squad movie. Her outfit is relatively easy to throw together too! You’re going to need a pair of ripped fishnet stockings, studded belt, ‘PUDDIN’ choker, shorts, boots, ‘Daddy’s Little Monster’ shirt, jacket and a ‘Goodnight’ baseball bat. For the final touches, just add the tattoos, makeup and either a wig or some hair spray. For an awesome couples costume idea, you and your partner can dress as Harley & The Joker!
While Mystic’s costume looks pretty complicated, it’s actually one of the more easy super villain costumes to create. First you’ll need a blue Lycra spandex bodysuit. Then you’ll need a Mystique wig and some blue face paint. To finish the face off, I’d recommend also getting some large yellow contact lenses. Depending on who you are, the next part will either be tedious, or fun. Get a paintbrush, and paint the dotty patterns all over the suit with either blue or metallic paint.
Catwoman is one of the most iconic female super villains. For your Catwoman costume, you’re going need some tight fitting black clothes – Ideally leather or spandex, but any material will work. You’ll also need a pair of black heels, gloves and either a gold belt, or black utility belt. There are many different styles of Catwoman masks that you can get on Amazon at affordable prices. You can also spice up this sexy costume by adding a whip, tail and some claws too!
Dark Phoenix is not just one of the most powerful villains in the X-Men series, but also one of the most powerful female villains of all time! If you decide to DIY the costume, then you should wear a red Lycra spandex bodysuit, some gold gloves, knee high boots, metallic gold waist band and some material for you to cut and stick the phoenix symbol on your chest. If you aren’t a red head, then you can also wear a red wig, or dye your hair.
This is a really cool gender-reverse costume for women! Take the Joker costume idea, as portrayed in The Dark Knight, and add a girly spin to it. The most important feature of this costume is the makeup. Get that right and there’s no mistaking who you are! First you’ll need some special effects makeup, and a step by step tutorial. Add some washable green hairspray and mess your hair around a bit. You can play around with the outfit however you want, but you might want to wear a vest, tie, and keep the green/purple color theme. For more easy super villain costumes like this, just gender-reverse any well known male villain you can think of!
Enchantress is another powerful super villain from the DC universe. And while she takes on a whole new look in the latest Suicide Squad movie, her original style is much easier to replicate! Here’s what you’ll need: A pair of green leggings, knee high boots, yellow waist cloth, green corset and long fingerless gloves. The headpiece can be recreated with cardboard, paint and some elastic string.
While Lady Deathstrike’s appearance has varied over the years, the most popular version would have to be the one featured in the second X-Men film. Ideally you will need a pair of black leather pants, a tight fitting leather jacket and black heels. More importantly, you’re going to need a nice set of claws! While you could DIY these, there’s an even easier alternative – Thai dancing fingers!
The Poison Ivy costume can be very cost effective if you already happen to have a suitable green outfit. Once you’ve sorted the outfit out, all that’s really needed is a long string of plastic vines. You can wrap them anywhere you want, or even remove individual leaves and stick them to your dress. Apply a nice green shade of makeup & lipstick and you’ve completed your Poison Ivy costume!
While portrayed as a hero in the latest Avengers movies, Black Widow actually spent much more time on the wrong side of the law in previous incarnations. To add to the list of easy super villain costumes, you’re going need an all black, tight fitting outfit. You’ll also be wearing knee high boots, a utility belt, holsters, and either a red wig, or hair dye. Lastly, you’ll need a pair of replica pistols to complete the look!
